Class 75(1) A liquid fuel burner for heating a water boiler &c. .comprises in coaxial relationship a vaporizer in the form of an annular well b, a vapour passage c, a vapour discharge orifice j around the lower part of the vaporizer, a hollow cover e, f forming an air passage leading from a central region d of the vaporizer through apertures y in the top thereof to an annular air discharge orifice g around the upper end of the vaporizer, a wall k forming a combustion chamber surrounding the vaporizer and having therein perforations n, m for the admission of air and an igniting burner wick u beneath the vaporizer. A sub-chamber q supplies fuel to the well d through radial ducts p, a float-controlled valve r maintaining the liquid level in the chamber q constant and the float may be adjusted to regulate the liquid level -in the well b. Alternatively the chamber may be adjustable in height on the wall s of the burner. Air is admitted into the central region d through ports y in the top wall of the open cavity z beneath the vaporizer. The wick u is supplied with fuel by a pipe v from the subchamber q through a control tap (not shown), air being supplied to the wick through the perforations w in the wall of the annular dish t containing the wick. The wick u may be ignited by means of a torch x.
