Abstract

762,453. Rollers. FISHER, G. E. July 15, 1953 [April 23, 1952], No. 10168/52. Class 42 (2). A hollow roller is constructed of a number of cylindrical cup-shaped elements 1 concentrically mounted on a shaft 2 supported in bosses 3 having end-plates 5, each element 1 being closed at one end except for a flanged central aperture 6 which fits over the shaft 2 and having a peripheral recess 7 which allows overlapping of the adjacent element to provide a uniform surface to the roller. Each element is secured to the shaft 2 by set-screws 4, a shim 11 being inserted, and the closed end 8 of the element has corrugations 9 for strengthening. In a modification (Fig. 3) the.sections 1 are mounted on the shaft 2 in opposing directions and a flanged plate 13 supports the adjacent open ends.
