Abstract
760,020. Wood-screws. HAY, H. M. Jan. 27, 1955 [Oct. 29, 1953], No. 29898/53. Class 89 (2). [Also in Groups X, XXII and XXIII] A screw for securing building-boards to the underside of laths, comprises a piece of wire bent to corkscrew form with a lateral projection, on or adjacent to the head, which is cranked upwardly then downwardly with the free end upwardly inclined. In one embodiment, the corkscrew shank c, Fig. 1, extends into a looped head f which ends in a collar e and projection d, the cranked form of which is to enable it to engage the flange of lath a. The head may be aligned with, or at an angle to the projection, and instead of being a circular loop, it may be rectangular or triangular with one or both of the lower limbs forming the projection or projections. In another arrangement, the head is omitted and shank c, Fig. 5, terminates in the projection d. In further arrangements, the projection is doubled back on itself to form a T-head across the top of the shank. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 665,492.
