Abstract
765,216. Propelling ships. BOLESTA, D. Aug. 27, 1953 [Sept.-5, 1952 ; Feb. 27, 1953], No. 23743/53. Class 114. [Also in Group XXVI] A marine propulsion plant comprises a pump 1 which draws in water from the sea or a storage tank and delivers it to a nozzle 3 wherein the water is expanded to such a lower pressure that partial evaporation occurs. The jet of watersteam mixture issuing from the nozzle 3 is caused to rotate by passing through guide blades 16 so that the water is separated from the steam which is compressed in a compressor 13 and then condensed by the water drawn into the pump either by direct contact therewith or indirectly in a condenser 14. The water jet passes into a diffuser 12 where its pressure is raised to at least atmospheric and from whence it issues to either provide a jet propelling force or to drive a water turbine.
