Abstract

765,147. Door-operating apparatus. WESTLAND ENGINEERS, Ltd. Feb. 16, 1955, No. 4656/55. Class 65 (1). An overhead door guided by rollers running in vertical tracks 6 and horizontal tracks 9 is operated by an electric motor 1 through an endless cable attached to the door at 5 and passing over pulleys at 4, 8, 7 so as to have an inclined portion 12 and a substantially vertical portion 14. In the arrangement shown, the portion 3 of the cable is constituted by a chain passing over a sprocket driven by the motor through worm gearing, and the pulleys at 4, 7 are carried by spring tensioning-devices. The roller running in the track 9 actuates adjustable limit and reversing switches connected by a rod 10, and the motor is started by a switch operated by a key or a pressure-pad or by a form of radiation. The motor drives through a clutch which slips if movement of the door is obstructed. The door is counter-balanced by weights attached to cables passing over pulleys. A solenoidoperated fastening is provided, the solenoid being energized when power is applied to the opening field of the motor 1.
