Abstract
754,548. Carding-engines. JOHNSON, G. Feb. 28, 1955 [March 9, 1954], No. 6766/54. Class 120 (1). In a cotton carding-engine, a deflector plate D secured to the underside of and extending longitudinally below the dish feed plate B over which the.lap 1 passes to the taker-in roll A comprises a longitudinal slot or slots, as at d<SP>1</SP>, to allow trash extracted from the lap to fall therethrough. As shown, the plate D is adjustably secured by set screws b passing through slots d and has a knife edge adjacent the taker-in. The plate D may be mounted on a base plate secured to ribs on the underside of the plate B, Fig. 2 (not shown), and the depth of the ribs varied to provide adjustment of the plate D. The slots, as at d<SP>1</SP>, may be in parallel rows, tapered ends d<SP>2</SP> thereof may be radiused, and the slot or slots may be covered with perforated metal or gauze.
