Abstract
747,409. Magnets. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. May 7, 1954 [May 7, 1953], No. 12758/53. Class 35. [Also in Group XL (a)] A permanent magnet device for producing a uniform flux through aperture 2 for focusing electrons, comprises a series of annular parts 1 magnetized equally in the axially direction. The device may be of ellipsoid form with a cylindrical aperture, as shown in Fig. 1, or for less accurate results, a series of plain cylindrical magnets with stepped outer diameters may be used. If desired the aperture may be of ellipsoidal form also. For certain purposes a series of plain cylindrical magnets of the same size may be assembled together, the number producing the most uniform axial flux varying with the magnetic material used. The magnetic cylinders may be made in quadrants. The aperture may be of circular or elliptical crosssection, and the magnet may have several apertures. Specification 708,127 is referred to.
