Abstract

731,009. Winches. VINSON, A., DRILL ON, S., and HENRY, R. April 9, 1953 [Oct. 11, 1952], No. 9699/53. Class 78 (5). Drum 7 is driven from shaft 1<SP>1</SP> by a double epicyclic gear whereof the two sun gears 23 are fixed to said shaft, and the annulus 13 is formed with two sets of teeth 131, 13<SP>2</SP>, one set 131 of which engages with the fixed-axis planet gears 9 and the other set 13<SP>3</SP> of which engages planet gears 4 carried by the drum 7 so as to drive the latter. In an alternative construction, a chain wheel is driven by a hand wheel through the same set of gears, the said planet gears being coupled to the chain wheel by a screw-thread.
