Abstract
722,461. Finishing fabrics. ADSHEAD & GEESON, Ltd., and GEESON, T. July 27, 1953 [Aug. 8, 1952], No. 19982/52. Addition to 683,075. Class 42 (1). The process of the parent invention is applied to tubular fabric made from yarns of staple fibre or continuous filament of cellulose acetate or of mixtures thereof with other natural or synthetic fibres; the fabric is passed continuously or intermittently through steam, which may be superheated, then through hot air, preferably dry air, so as to dry the fabric, and then over and in contact with a surface heated to a temperature of 285 ‹ F. or higher but below the plasticizing point of cellulose acetate fibre (about 420‹ F.), which causes the cellulose acetate to shrink and be stabilized in such dimensional condition. The treatment may be effected on apparatus as described in the parent Specification, either before or after dyeing or other wet treatment.
