Abstract

721,004. Ice-making. GOLDSCHMIDT AKT.-GES., T. June 22, 1953 [July 31, 1952], No. 17295/53. Class 29. Bactericidal ice contains 0.001 per cent. to 1 per cent. of an amphoteric surface active substance having the general formula wherein R 1 is an alkly group with a carbon chain of at least 6 carbon atoms possibly interrupted by NH, CONH, COO, 0 or S 1 , R 2 , a group of the same kind as R and or hydrogen ; and R 3' a low molecular weight bridging group which is aliphatic, aromatic or mixed aliphaticaromatic. Mixtures of such substances may be added to the water. The Specification gives many examples of suitable substances.
