Abstract
727,164. Electric weighing machines. SCRIBBANS-KEMP, Ltd., and HENDON, A. L. Oct. 21, 1953 [July 23, 1952], No. 18606/52. Class 40 (1). The output signal of an electric weighing- machine determining the weight of the contents of a container is fed through an R.C. circuit of adjustable time constant so that the time constant is short, giving zero output voltage, until filling commences when the time constant is made long, to give a signal proportional to the contents only. As shown (Fig. 3) the arrival of an empty container on weighing-machine 1 produces a pulse in a-photo-cell 8 to trigger flip-flop circuit 9, whereupon a relay R operates to close a contact r short-circuiting a resistor R1 in the R.C. circuit, so that the time constant is reduced and the output voltage of the R.C. circuit is reduced to zero. The flip-flop circuit 9 restores to normal and releases relay R in time for a weight signal from the machine 1 proportional to the filling only to be fed through the R.C. circuit to indicating or control circuits. The signal from the weighing-machine 1 is fed to the R.C. circuit through a Selsyn transmitter 2 and receiver 4. Specification 664,063 is referred to.
