Abstract

710,986. Hydraulic couplings. VOITH GES., J. M. March 24, 1952 [March 24, 1951], No. 7529/52. Addition to 692,286. Class 69 (2) In a hydraulic coupling according to the parent Specification, there is provided within the internal diameter of two bladed elements, in addition to the container, a mechanical clutch for coupling the two bladed elements together or one of the said elements to its shaft. A container 13 is formed between the impeller 2 and runner 4 on the one hand, and the driving and driven shafts 1, 17 on the other. Clutch plates 7 are connected to the runner 4 and driven shaft 17 and are pressed together by springs 9 bearing against a cage 10 journalled on the shaft 1 and a spring plate 8 having a central boss 14 engaging a bore 15 in the shaft 17 which is bored to receive a clutch operating rod 16<SP>1</SP>, 16". The cage 10 has bores 12 communicating with the container 13. In a modification the clutch plates are connected to the runner and to the cage which is secured to the driving shaft.
