Abstract

703,109. Bed settees. CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY, Ltd. Oct. 6, 1952 [Sept. 22, 1951], No. 22230/51. Class 52(2) A bed-settee comprises a fixed frame and three hinged bed sections, two of which are foldable to form the back rest and the third to form the seat of a settee. Fig. 4 shows the upholstered sections being folded to settee position while Fig. 7 shows the frame sections without upholstery in bed position. Section 17 is pivoted to the fixed frame 11, 12, 13, 14 at each side by plates 24, 25 and at the front, to section 18. Section 18 is hinged to section 19 and is also connected to the fixed frame by a cranked lever 29 at each side, the lever 29 being connected to the section by a pin and slot connection. In addition, sections 18, 19 are interconnected at each side by links or brackets 35 which are pivoted at the rear to the levers 29 and are also pivoted to supporting legs 36. To fold to settee position sections 17, 18 are raised to fold back to back and rest against a transverse bar 16 of the fixed frame to form the back rests while section 19 is drawn rearwardly to form the settee seat, a frame 33 then abutting on to a member 15 of the fixed frame.
