Abstract

700,712. Pressure cooker covers. HAUTIER, C. June 4, 1951 [June 5, 1950; Feb. 20,1951], No. 13198/51. Class 123(1) A cover B is secured to a pressure cooker A by the engagement of, say, four internally projecting lugs such as 5, 6, 8 on the cover with a corresponding number of helical threads 1, 2, 3, 4 around the upper part of the cooker, fluid tightness being secured by a rubber &c. packing ring D projecting from a recess C within said cover. Preferably the beginning of each thread overlaps the end of the adjacent one. The cooker may be provided with a member G having a tooth or cam adapted to engage one of several notches F on the flange of the cover when the latter is in position, rotation of said member effecting movement of the cover in the opening direction sufficient to permit release of the pressure within the cooker prior to removal of the cover. The cover is fitted with a hand grip E and associated pressure and temperature indicator H, pressure alarm I and an automatic escape and safety valve J. In a modification the cooker has opposed handles, one of which is adapted to be rotatable and is formed with the pressure-releasing cam G.
