708,990. Crop sprayers ; spray-producers. HANSON, H. C. April 15, 1952, No. 9441/52. Class 69 (3) A crop and roadside sprayer comprises a wheeled vehicle carrying a manually adjustable tubular boom 17 clamped to a tubular support 33, which is adjustably mounted on a fixed post 38. A friction clamp 30 on the boom carries a two-piece socket 31 which grips a ball projection on the support. The boom can be adjusted to any angular position, and its height varied by raising the support relative to the post, and securing the support by a pin 36 which engages one of a series of vertically spaced holes in the post and support. Spray liquid is pumped to the boom from a tank 27 and passes through a valve 23 to one or more spraying nozzles 21. The latter may include a jet 40, Fig. 5, having an axial passage 45 leading to a V-shaped slot 46 to provide a wide angle sheet type spray. Two such jets may be adjustably mounted in a T-fitting 47, Fig. 4, to direct the spray in opposite directions. The spray may be arranged in planes parallel, or at right angles, to the boom.
