Abstract
Plant for oiling cotton or other textile fibres comprises an oil tank, an air-compressor and an atomizer which has an oil inlet and three separately controlled pipe lines for admitting air under pres <PICT:0708520/IV(c)/1> <PICT:0708520/IV(c)/2> <PICT:0708520/IV(c)/3> <PICT:0708520/IV(c)/4> sure so that a sheet like dispersal of the atomized oil jet is produced. Fig. 1 shows a cotton oiling plant in which oil from a tank 2 is pumped into a tank 4 and is fed into two constant level tanks 7a, 7b. Compressed air from a compressor 11 is fed to atomizers 8a-8d to which oil is fed from tanks 7a, 7b controlled by panels 13a, 13b respectively so that a sheet-like dispersal of the atomized oil jets from atomizers 8a-8d is produced and is applied to two cotton laps 9a, 9b which pass over beaters 10a, 10b respectively. The oil level in the constant level tanks 7a, 7b can be adjusted so that it is located at, above or below the atomizers. The compressed air supply line 12a divides into three branches. Fig. 2 (not shown) in each of which is located a regulating sluice valve and measuring appliances. In two of the lines are located electrically operated valves which are synchronized with the device which advances the corresponding lap of cotton so that in the event of the lap stopping the air supply is cut off and the spray ceases. Figs. 4 and 5 shows the construction of an atomizer which ensures a sheet-like dispersal of the oil jet 42, Fig. 3. Oil is admitted from the constant level tank (Fig. 1) into the oil chamber 24 and the compressed air pipes are connected at 19c, 20c and 21c respectively, so that when pressure is applied at inlet 20c piston 32 and rod 29 are depressed against the action of spring 31 to displace joint 30 from its seating 27 and admit oil from chamber 24 into the oil outlet duct 28. The air connection 21c effects atomization of the oil leaving outlet 28 in known manner, the system comprising an annular chamber 34 communicating with two helical passages 35, 36 of opposite pitch which terminate in two atomization pipes 37, 38. Air inlet 19c communicates with an annular chamber 39 from which two inclined blast pipes 40, 41 start which are arranged symmetrically on each side of the oil outlet duct 28 so as to spread out the atomized oil into a sheet as shown in Fig. 3, the breadth of which can be adjusted by variation of the air pressure in the line feeding inlet 19c.
