Abstract

Class 110(iii) [Also in Group XXIX] In a gas turbine plant having a heat exchanger in which the turbine exhaust heats the compressor delivery, the heat exchanger may be by-passed on the gas-side. As shown, Fig. 1, the propeller 22 is driven by turbine 20 which is supplied with air by the L.P. and H.P. compressors 10, 12, respectively driven by turbines 14, 16. After compression the air is heated by the turbine exhaust gases in the heat exchanger 17 which contains hinged gates 28, 29, Fig. 6, controlled by the manual throttle handle, and adapted to adjust the flow of exhaust gases through the exchanger. The pump 31 is rotated at a speed proportional to that of the plant and supplies fuel to the injector 42 through the throttle 38 manually set by 63. The fuel flow is maintained at the set value by adjustment of the pump bleedvalve 48 by the bellows 58, 59, 60 sensitive to the pressure difference developed across the throttle. The engine top speed is limited by a second bleed-valve 102 operated by the diaphragm 100 which is positioned by the pressure developed by the rotor pump 32. The manual adjustment of 28, 29 is effected through the servomotor 77, 80 controlled by valve 75 which is positioned by the trellows 65 in which the space 67 is connected to the compressor delivery. The ambient temperature changes which are accompanied by variations in the delivery pressure of the H.P. compressor are corrected for by the bellows 90 adapted to operate the bleeder 48 through the flexible diaphragm 50 in response to delivery pressure changes detected in chamber 94.
