Abstract

699,442. Sweeping machines. McKINNON, D. J. B. May 21,1952 [April 1, 1952], No. 8243/52. Class 107 A sweeping machine for attachment to a. tractor having a three-point lift linkage system and a rear power take-off shaft, comprises an elongated brush unit extending rearwardly from a turntable rotatable about a vertical axis on a support adapted to fasten to the lift linkage of the tractor. The brush unit is driven by a universal shaft from the power takeoff shaft and the turntable is lockable with the brush at right angles to the tractor track or at a position inclined thereto in either direction. Brush 5 in cover 25 is carried by a frame 4 which pivots around the vertical axis of the universal joint pivot pin 16. The tractor linkage bars 10. 12 are secured as shown to the frame, and the telescopic drive shaft 20 and universal joints 21, 27 allow the take-off shaft 22 to remain connected whilst the apparatus is raised or lowered by the lifting gear of the tractor. Wheels 26 may be provided to support the brush unit. the links carrying holes 23 which allow the brush unit to be locked, via holes 24, in the inclined position.
