Abstract

695,428. Injection-moulding machines. MASCHINENFABRIK & GIESSEREI NETSTAL AKT.-GES. Nov. 16, 1951 [April 13, 1951], No. 26972/51. Class 87 (ii) The " spreader " or heat exchange insert within the heating cylinder 1 is in two parts 8, 8 which are divided in an axial plane, and the hollow space within the spreader is divided into longitudinal channels by fins 11 which extend at right angles to the axial plane. The two parts 8, 8 are interconnected by keys 9, 9. Through the lower central fin extend three temperature-indicating elements 13. The three central fins on each part 8 project beyond the forward face of each part, Fig. 2 (not shown). The end faces of the parts 8 are so shaped as to form, in combination with the nozzle 7 and rear bush 6, labyrinthine seals 10. The spreader is secured in the cylinder by grub screws 15. Electric heating jackets 14 are provided. The heating system is secured to the injection cylinder 4 by a sleeve 5 which engages a groove 2 in the heating cylinder, and when the spreader is to be cleaned the sleeve is removed, the heating cylinder is reversed end for end (sleeve 5 engaging groove 2') and the spreader and nozzle are forced out of the heating cylinder by means of the injection plunger.
