Abstract
694,925. Drill bits. BOART PRODUCTS, SOUTH AFRICA, Ltd. Aug. 27, 1951 [Aug. 30, 1950], No. 20162/51. Class 85 '[Also in Group XXIII] A drilling crown having an axial passage is manufactured by making one or more bodies of hard material each of which has diamond material embedded in a concave face, and incorporating the bodies in a crown during sintering, moulding or casting, so that the. concave face or faces form part of the wall of the passage. As shown, a crown has three such bodies 7 of diamonds embedded in tungsten carbide evenly spaced round the axial passage 4; alternatively a single annular body may be incorporated, lying in the same plane.
