683,670. Sluice valves. TEDDINGTON CONTROLS, Ltd. March 20, 1951, No. 6686/51. Class 135. A gate valve comprises a housing 1 with an inlet 4 and outlets 5, 5a, a metal grid plate 6 extending across the outlets, and a grid-like closure member 10 of carbon or other self-lubricating material which slides on the plate 6, the relative positions of the slots in the plate and member being such that with the member positioned as shown, the outlet 5a is closed and the outlet 5 fully open, whilst upward movement of the member progressively opens outlet 5a and closes outlet 5. The closure member is urged against plate 6 by springs 12 mounted in pockets 13 in the housing, and is moved by a frame member 17 slotted for engagement by a roller 19 carried on a crank 20 operable either manually or, e.g. by an electric motor 22.
