Class 52(ii) The patient-supporting platform for a hospital bed as described in Specification 683,070 comprises parallel side members 10a. 10b connected transversely bv a member 10c and a torque tube 14, a head piece 12 removably secured to the side members by pegs, a hip panel 11 rigidly fixed to the side members, hinged panels, viz. head panel 16, torso panel 17 and foot panel 18 and, if desired, an auxiliary panel 20 arranged in the fixed panel 11 and removably secured thereto by lugs on the underside of the panel engaging, by a rotary movement, bayonet slots arranged on brackets secured to the underside of the panel 11. The hinged panels are adjusted by means of screw jacks constructed as described in Specification 683,074. The jack 35 for adjusting the foot panel 18 is pivoted on' a shaft carried by the side members 10a, 10b, the screw 37 of the jack being pivoted to a bracket 38 secured to the panel 18. The jack 45 for adjusting the torso and head panels 17, 16 in relation to the panel 11 is pivoted on a cross shaft mounted on the side members 10a, 10b and situated below the panel 16, while its screw 47 is pivoted to a bracket 48 secured to the torso panel 17. The screw jack 39 for adjusting the head panel 16 in relation to the torso panel 17 is pivoted on a shaft 41 carried by the torso panel 17, while its screw is pivoted to a bracket 44 carried by the head panel 16. The frame of the patientsupporting platform is adapted to pivot in relation to the arched chassis. Specifications 683,072 and 683,073 also are referred to.
