Abstract

685,339. Fluid pressure brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd. Oct. 18, 1951 [Nov. 7, 1950], No. 27214/50. Class 103 (i). A fluid pressure servomotor for operating the hydraulic master cylinder 13 of a vehicle brake system, which as shown is of the vacuum suspended type comprising a servo - piston 21 within which is mounted a slide valve 27 for connecting the chamber 36 either to atmosphere or a vacuum source according to the movement of a manual control rod 28, is characterized in that " feel " is given to the operator by use of a plunger for the master cylinder, which is hollow, and contains a thrust rod 41 subject at one end to the pressure in the master cylinder and which transmits force to the valve member 27 at the other end against the resistance of a spring 43. The master cylinder.13 has a replenishing valve 48 tilted to open position when the plunger is in its rearward position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 678,248.
