Abstract
673,358. Objectives. ANGENIEUX, P. Dec. 12, 1950 [Feb. 17, 1950; July 5, 1950], No. 30323/50. Class 97 (i). A photographic objective in which the back focal length is greater than the equivalent focal length comprises a simple negative meniscus lens 1 convex towards the front and disposed at a distance greater than half the equivalent focal length F in front of a convergent member which consists of a simple positive lens 2, a simple positive meniscus lens 3 convex toward the front, a simple bi-concave lens 4 and a positive compound lens 5 and the focal length of said negative meniscus being less than 4F and the radius of curvature of the rear surface R2 of the negative meniscus being less than 1.5F. Preferably, the radius R2 is also less than the radius of curvature of the surface R3, and the axial thickness of the rear lens of the convergent member is greater than that of the air space between the bi-concave lens and said rear lens. Optical data are given for the example shown and for an example in which the rear compound lens is a triplet made up of a negative lens of flint glass cemented between two positive lenses of crown or barium crown glass and in which said bi-concave lens 4 is of material having a refractive index less than 1.58.
