Abstract

671.940. Fuel injectors. HARTRIDGE, L. March 31. 1950 [March 31, 1949], No. 8803/49. Class 7(iii) A nozzle pin d, axially-slidable in a body e and urged towards a delivery orifice g by a spring-loaded rod a of smaller diameter than the pin, is lifted by fuel pressure and engages the lower end of a sleeve 1 that surrounds the rod and is axiallyadjustable, e.g. by a screw-thread 2, so that the lift of the pin may be varied. Adjustment of the sleeve may be made by a tool inserted into radially-disposed holes 4 of a head 3 of the sleeve and the degree of adjustment may be indicated by a scale on the body. In a modification, the sleeve is axially slidable in the body and has a coned head engaged by a radially-directed and ,cone-ended adjusting screw.
