Abstract

671,357. Collapsable cartons. SUTHERLAND PAPER CO. June 1, 1948 [July 15, 1947], No. 14776/48. Class 18 A collapsable tray or box is formed from a single substantially rectangular blank and comprises a bottom 1, and side walls 21 and end walls 3 hingedly connected thereto, the end walls having hinged corner flaps 6 which fold on to the side walls when the box is erected. Diagonally inwardly inclined slits 8 are formed in the sides, extending upwardly from the bottom edges at points spaced from the end edges of said sides. Angled slits 9 in the side walls open into the diagonal slits 8 to form upwardly projecting tongues 10. The corner flaps 6 have notches 11 in their side edges with slits 12 extending diagonally from the notches and forming tongues 13. When the tray is erected by folding in the walls and folding the flaps 6 on the outside of the side walls, the tongues 13 are inserted through the slits 8 so that the bottom edges of the flaps are supported by the bottom 1 and the inner and outer edges of the respective slits 12 and 8 engage.
