Classes 122(i) and 122(iii) In an engine having one or more pistons 16 each coupled to a swash plate 7 through a driving rod 10 connected rigidly to the piston and to the swash plate through a corden 'joint 8, the driving rod has, for at least part of its length, a cross-section, Fig. 3a, comprising a plurality of ribs 19 extending radially from a central position 18. This cross-section enables the driving rod to be torsionally resilient.
