Abstract

676,537. Toothed gearing. LEWICKI, W. Aug. 28, 1950 [Aug. 30, 1949], No. 22469/49. Class 80 (i). Toothed gears are constructed with teeth forms generated from involutes having relatively small base circles so that the pressure angle between opposing tooth faces at the normal cross-section is not less than 45 degrees. As shown, two intermeshing gears of centres 01, 02 have base circles giving a pressure angle of 80 degrees in the normal driving direction. The reverse driving faces have a pressure angle of 20 degrees. The initial point of contact is indicated at 0 and the teeth of the gear 01. lie entirely outside of its pitch circle whilst the teeth of the gear 02 lie entirely within its pitch circle. The invention is applicable to spur, single or double helical, or bevel gears.
