662,260. Resilient supports; pneumatic springs. OFFICE TECHNIQUE INTERNATIONAL O.T.I. May 25, 1949 [June 2 1948], No. 14017/49. Class 108(iii) [Also in Group XXXIV] A hollow, pneumatic pad of rubber or the like for insertion in an annular groove 12 formed in a member to which the pad is to be attached, comprises a cylindrical root portion 3, a rounded head portion 1 and a body portion of truncated cone form surrounding an internal chamber communicating with the outside by means of an aperture of truncated cone shape, formed in the root portion, the point of intersection of a projection of the sides 2 of the body portion being located beyond the rounded head portion, and the point of intersection of the sides 5 of the aperture being located at or near the head portion. Steps 4 are formed on the peripheral wall of the root portion 3 to assist in resisting withdrawal of the pad when it is inserted in the groove 12. A set of pads may be fitted in a wheel rim to provide a semi-pneumatic tyre.
