660,427. Drying grass &c. PETRIE & McNAUGHT, Ltd., WALSH, J., and DAWSON, H. June 7, 1950 [June 7, 1949], No. 15094/49. Class 34(ii) In drying apparatus having a revolving drum d through which the grass is fed together with a current of hot air, there being baffles in the drum to cause the air and grass to take a circuitous path, the drum has a continuous internal baffle f in the form of a helix of gradually increasing pitch which baffle rotates with the drum. The baffle may be of continuously curved form and the drum of frusto-conical form or the baffle may be formed in stepped radial lines 90 degrees apart as at g in a cylindrical drum, the axial length of the steps increasing gradually along the length of the drum. The drum may also have on its internal surface plates parallel to the axis of the drum to exert a tumbling action of the grass.
