Abstract
668,667. Cigar-making machines. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP VEREENIGDE TABAKSINDUSTRIEEN MIGNOT & DE BLOCK. Feb. 6, 1950 [March 15, 1949], No. 3055/50. Class 130. In a cigar-making machine in which preformed leaves 12 are conveyed to a set of parallel rollers 1 by a rotary drum leafholder 6 having its axis parallel to the rollers and a suction area or areas on its cylindrical surface, the leaves are detached from the leafholder and led into the rollers by a scraper 13 which extends axially across all or only part of the roller lengths according as the leaves are disposed axially or helically of the drum. Binders or wrappers 12 or a binder and a wrapper alternately are taken up by the leafholder 6 from a magazine 10 having a reciprocating bottom 11, the leafholder having suction areas corresponding in shape to that of the leaves and being stepped round by a ratchet mechanism so that the leaves are presented in turn to sets of rollers 1 mounted between discs 3 rotating about a shaft 2. Each set of rollers, which has been opened at the top of its travel to receive a charge of filler tobacco from a device 4, receives a binder, wrapper or both a binder and a wrapper from the leafholder 6 and is again opened at the bottom of its travel to drop the rolled bunch or cigar on to a conveyer 15.
