Abstract
658,925. Potato chippers. NOEL. H., and METCALF, C. B. L. July 13, 1949, No. 18471. [Class 5(i)] In a potato chipper in which a reciprocated pressure head 27 forces a potato through a knife block 28, the potatoes are dumped through a hopper hole in the top casing on to a rotated disc 15 from which they are received one at a time by recesses 20 in a horizontal rotor 19 and swept round to drop down a shoot 26 into the space in front of the reciprocating head 27. The disc 15 is conical and is partly overlapped by the rotor 19. The machine is driven from a motor through a worm wheel 32 and sprocket chains 44, 47, the pressure head 27 being reciprocated from a crank disc 39. The driving mechanism is protected from contact with potato dirt by a partition 18 and by the wall of the shoot 26.
