Abstract
Basic esters of a : a -diaryl-a -alkoxyacetic acid basic esters of the formula <FORM:0641571/IV (b)/1> wherein R is an alkyl residue, R2 is an alkyl group and R1 is a phenyl ring are prepared by treating a ,a -diphenyl-a -alkoxy acetic acids or their salts with a hydrogen halide, sulphuric acid, or toluene-sulpho acid ester of an amino alcohol. In examples: (1) a : a -diphenyl-a -methoxyacetic acid reacts with b -ethyl chloride-diethylamine in absolute alcohol in the presence of a small quantity of sodium to give diphenylmethoxy acetic diethylaminoethyl ester; (2) a : a -diphenylethoxyacetic acid reacts with b -ethylchloride-diethylamine as in (1) to give a : a -diphenylethoxy acetic acid diethylaminoi ethyl ester, and (3) diphenyl propoxyacetic acid reacts with ethyl chloride p diethylamine as in (1) to give diphenylpropoxyacetic acid diethylaminoethyl ester; the diphenylisopropoxyacetic acid diethylaminoethyl ester and diphenylbutoxyacetic acid diethylamino-ethyl ester may be similarly obtained. Diphenylpropoxyacetic acid is obtained by reacting diphenylchloroacetic acid ethyl ester with sodium and propyl alcohol and saponifying the resultant diphenylpropoxyacetic acid ethyl ester.
