Abstract

640,831. Roundabouts. SMITH, L. S. April 26, 1948, No. 11376. [Class 132 (i)] A roundabout comprises a fixed support 1, a part 3 rotatably mounted on the support and adapted to carry one or more riders, an eccentric pin 6 fixed to the upper end of the support 1 and a number of adjustable connecting rods 7 pivoted at one end to the pin 6 and at the other end to a member 8, supported on the part 3, which can be pushed and pulled by the rider so that the whole rotates. Each rider has a seat 4 with back rest 9 and foot rest 10. The arm 3 is mounted on a sleeve 2 which rotates on the post 1 and may be loosely mounted and engage cam means so that it rocks as well as rotating. The part 3 may be a wheel or disc and foot pedals may be provided instead of hand levers.
