644,355. Controlling aircraft. SOC. NATIONALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS AERONAUTIQUES DU SUD-EST. Aug. 29, 1946, No. 26014. Convention date, Jan. 16. [Class 4] An aircraft control system, wherein manual operation of a relatively small control surface to give the pilot a sense of " feel " causes operation of an electric servomotor to operate a main control surface, is modified by controlling the speed of operation of the servomotor in accordance with the air pressure on the pilot surface to prevent too rapid operation of the motor. As shown, actuation of the primary member 40, of a follow-up switch, by the control lever 1, energizes relay 60 or 61 to drive the servomotor 7 in one direction or the other, the speed of operation being governed by a rheostat 55 controlled by a dynamometer system (not shown) measuring the stress applied to the pilot surface (not shown) by the control lever. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the followup switch controls the motor direct. The rheostat 55 may be operated in steps. Specification 25849/46, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the servomotor may be electric or hydraulic. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
