Abstract

626,199. Scaffolding. DAVIS, W. J. Aug. 18, 1947, No. 22915. [Class 20(ii)] [Also in Group XIV] Scaffold legs for supporting platforms for decorators &c. are constructed with an aperture 1 having its longer dimension vertically, to hold a plank on edge to support the floor. A socket 4 is provided at the top for a horizontal plank. The legs are adjustable, sliding on one another by means of a ring 7 fixed to the part 6, the part 5 having a pin engaging one of a number of holes in the part 6. A loose sleeve 12 locks the parts in place. Alternatively the legs may be telescopic and have a pin passing through holes in both parts. In a further modification the aperture 1 is in a plate to which the legs are adjustably attached by bolts through the coinciding holes of a series of holes. In a further modification the leg is formed from a tube the lower part of which is split and splayed to form the legs.
