Abstract

614,723. Powder inhalers. BARNARD, H. F. July 22, 1946. No. 21834. [Class 81 (ii)] A device for the nasal inhalation of measured quantities of powder comprises a powder container 1 and a nozzle 10 secured therein by ram fit bayonet joint, screw - thread, &c. ; the nozzle is hollowed at 14 and has apertures 15 in its side walls, a central bore 11 being continued as a tube 16 depending into a cup 8 formed with perforations 9. In use, with the cap 18 in position, the device is inverted, the powder in the container falling through perforations 9 into cavity 14. On returning the device to the upright position, a measured quantity of powder remains in cup 8, and may be drawn into the nostrils by air inhaled through apertures 15. Cup 8 may be covered by a gauze plate 19.
