Abstract
6 0 2,8 5 4. Refrigerating. NICHOLS, T. W. Feb. 25, 1946, No. 5735. [Class 29] The oil sealed rotary compressor 6 is arranged outside and connected to a separate gas and oil container 2, shut off valves 11, 16 being provided in the compressor suction and discharge pipes and a shut off valve 18 in the oil outlet from the container, so that the compressor may be removed with the loss of only the gas and oil in the compressor itself and in the pipes and passages between the valves and the compressor. The container 2 is of annular form with a central cored hole through which passes the driving shaft 4 of the compressor which is mounted on the side of the container by bolts. The suction port 8 of the compressor casing 7 is connected through pipe 9, detachable non- return valve 10 and the shut-off valve 11 with the evaporator, while the discharge port 13 is connected through pipe 14, detachable non-return valve 15 and the shut-off valve 16 with the container 2. Oil from the lower part of the container 2 is returned to the compressor through the shut-off valve 18 and oil cooler 19. The shaft 4 is connected to the driving shaft 21 by a coupling 22. Cooling air for the compressor passes through the cored hole in the container 2.
