Abstract

601,103. Cable ships. ELLIS, B. J. Sept. 21, 1943, No. 15497. Drawings to Specification. [Class 113 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] For laying a rigid pipe line beneath the sea a hopper barge has a large drum mounted therein carrying the coiled pipe. The barge may be driven or towed, and is provided with means for rotating and braking the drum. Alternatively the pipe is coiled on a floatable drum having towing means, and paddles or vanes for braking.
