609,706. Rolling. PICKEN, E. M. Dec. 20, 1941, No. 16455. [Class 83 (iv)] Strip, sheet, bars and simple sections are rolled by planetary rolls. Work M of original thickness m is positively fed and is reduced to thickness m<SP>1</SP> by rolls E journalled in discs B bolted against shoulders f on shafts F at G, and keyed to the shafts at H. The shafts are geared together, are phased so that rolls E always oppose in the pass, and are rapidly rotated. The journals e rotate in bushes D in holes in the discs. The rolls E are backed up by rings J mounted by roller bearings K on discs L mounted on the shafts F between the shoulders f.
