Abstract

606,386. Roofs. COOMBES, P. C., and SPEAKER & CO., Ltd., G. R. Jan. 14, 1946, No. 1241. [Class 20(iv)] A roof structure for carrying a covering such as slates or tiles is formed of panels consisting of rafters 2 and battens 1 pivotally connected, as by rivets 4, so that they can be collapsed trelliswise to occupy a small space for transport to the site of erection. The rafters may be of wood with metal backing strips on their under faces, the end portions of the strips extending beyond the ends of the rafters and being bent downwardly at the eaves to form attachment brackets for facia boards and upwardly at the ridge for connection to similarly bent strips on the other side of the roof.
