[Class 86] A batching apparatus for supplying measured quantities of materials to a mixing machine comprises a bin having one or more compartments for the material or materials to be used in the mix, each compartment having a controlled outlet at the side of the bin, and a weighing hoppet arranged adjacent the controlled outlet or outlets but laterally off-set with respect to the bin, the hopper having itself a controlled outlet from which its contents can be discharged into a receptacle laterally off-set with respect to the hopper. A bin 10 divided by a partition into two compartments for two different materials, e.g. aggregate and sand for concrete mixing, has a floor 8c sloping to outlets each fitted with a manually operated door which may be of the kind described in Specification 605,629, [Group I]. The materials are discharged through the outlets into a weighing hopper 15 laterally off-set with respect to the bin and connected by pivoted beam and link mechanism 16 to a weight indicating dial 17. Cement may be added to the materials in the hopper 15 and the batch is passed through an outlet controlled by a gate 19 operated by a lever 20 to a chute 21. The latter may be inclined adjustably by a hand lever 22 to direct the material into a charging skip of a concrete mixer or into any other receptacle as required. The bin 10 is supported by arms 7 on a rotatable cross shaft 6 and may be swung down into a lower position during transit of the batching apparatus. Alternatively the apparatus may be constructed so as to be transportable by carriage on a lorry.
