597,487. Dish-washing machines. PAGE, H. E. Aug. 21, 1945, No. 21374. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1944. [Class 138 (i)] A dish-washing machine comprises a wash chamber in which is an agitator, a blower having an outlet communicating with the chamber, and a motor which drives the agitator on rotation in one direction, and the blower on rotation in the other direction. The cabinet 5 is divided by a wall 7 into a wash chamber C and a compartment containing the motor M and blower 27. The dishes are placed in a foraminous basket 45 which is inserted through a removable lid 6, and the water is thrown against them by the agitator 20. After washing, the water is drained through a pipe 50 and the chamber is filled with rinsing water and the operation repeated. After draining a second time, the motor is reversed by a switch 12 and drives the blower 27, the inlet conduit of which draws the air through an electric heater 37, the hot air being discharged through the outlet 41 on to the dishes to dry them, and thence out through openings 55 in the lid 6. The motor shaft 15 is operatively connected to the shaft, 21 of the agitator or to the shaft of the blower, according to the direction of rotation, by means of overriding clutches 16, 17.
