Abstract
596,802. Variable - pitch propellers. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. March 28, 1945, No. 7795. Convention date, March 30, 1944. [Classes 113 (ii) and 114] To produce a uniform distribution of flow around a variable pitch propeller, the stern of the ship is provided with a structure surrounding the propeller, or with a partial tunnel form. In the latter; the tunnel top'9, Fig. 1, may be slightly above the static water-line. In the form in which the propeller is completely surrounded, Fig. 6, inlet guide-vanes 24 are provided. This structure may be pivoted to the hull to allow it to act as a rudder.
