Abstract
595,422. Photographic objectives. KERN & CO., Ltd. Feb. 14, 1945, No. 3648. Convention date, March 13, 1944. [Class 97 (i)] An objective corrected for spherical aberration, astigmatism and coma for one or more colours comprises as shown converging lenses L1, L2, a diverging doublet made up of lenses L3, L4 and a converging lens L5, the components being air separated and the lens L3 being a converging lens with a refractive index of at least 1.72 and an AbbÚ number greater by at least 4.0 than that of the diverging lens L4. The curvature of the cemented surface of the doublet is greater than that of its front surface, while the difference in the refractive indices of the lenses L2, L4 may be at least 0.07 ; the lens L4 may have a refractive index greater than that of the lens L2 but less than 1.70. One of the converging components, e.g. the second component L2, may be a doublet comprises lenses, the refractive indices of which differ by not more than 0.01 ; the front lens of this doublet may be diverging and may have a smaller AbbÚ number than the rear converging lens of the doublet. Optical data for one example are given.
