Abstract
594,206. Gas turbines. SMITH, D. M., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. June 28, 1945, No. 16555. [Class 110 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] In a gas turbine plant comprising an axial flow compressor 1, an annular combustion chamber or annularly arranged group of chambers 2, a turbine 4a driving the compressor and a two-stage turbine 8a, 9a in axial alignment, and in which each stage of the turbine 8a, 9a is directly coupled to an element of a contrarotational tractor air-screw 12, 13, the two shafts 10, 11 connecting the turbine stages 8a, 9a to the air-screw elements 12, 13 pass through the compressor 1 anc combustion chamber 2 and thus pass through the shaft 5 coupling the compressor to the compressor turbine.
