Abstract

581,299. Drying or ironing shirts &c. BOYD, D. M. Sept. 30, 1944, No. 16468. [Classes 34 (i) and 34 (ii)] [Also in Group VIII] Apparatus for supporting shirts and like garments while being dried or ironed, comprises a vertical or horizontally-disposed elongated chest 10 which is itself supported so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis 11 and is provided with movable lateral extensions 12 whereby it may be expanded to stretch the garment, the extensions preferably being controlled by compressed-air spring-return pistons 13 housed in cylinders in the said chest. The chest is made of heat-conducting material covered with cloth and preferably, has a longitudinal extension 16 to accommodate the neck portion of the garment, and a heating agent, such as steam, &c., may be supplied to the interior thereof.
