Abstract
580,347. Rulers. TOWNSEND, C. M., and TOWNSEND, C. R. July 5, 1944, No. 12790. [Class 97 (iii)] In a ruling appliance of the kind provided with a roller at each end of a spindle upon which are fixed differently notched discs which are selectively adapted to co-operate with a spring- loaded catch to give audible or feeling indications of correct positions for spaced rulings, the rollers, spindle and notched discs are recessed into the underside of the base member of the ruler so as to be disposed within an upper hood &c. upon which the catch is mounted. The spindle 3 is mounted in the end walls 2a of a housing 2 which is disposed upon, and may be integral with, the upper surface of the base member 1, the rollers 5 projecting through a slot 1a in the member 1. A series of differently notched discs 6 is mounted on the spindle and a spring-loaded catch 7, having a tooth 7a adapted to engage the notches of the discs 6, carried by a curved member 7f is slidable on the housing 2 with the tooth 7a projecting through a slot 2d to engage one or other of the discs.
