Abstract

587,857. Horticultural cloches &c. HEARN, E. Jan. 23, 1945, No. 1825. [Class 20 (i)] A horticultural cloche, suitable for larger plants such as tomatoes, comprises gable ends, which are preferably glazed, and glazed top and side lights, both the top and side lights being mounted so that they can be swung about pivots near the eaves. The end frames, built of members 1, 2, Fig. 3, having the section shown at 9, and wide base board 4 and central support 3, are fitted with eyes 7 at the eaves, through which bolts may be passed through aligned eyes in the top and side lights 12, 18 thereby forming hinges enabling the top and side lights to be swung open with the eaves as centre of rotation. A ridge member may be carried by one of the top lights. Intermediate gable frames acting with adjoining cloche units may be fitted to enable a number of units to be assembled end to end. The transverse frames may be coupled by tie members 27 having fittings engaging sockets 25 on the frames.
