Abstract
587,233. Metal sheets. JENNINGS, H. W. K., (Rigid-Tex Corporation). April 1, 1944, No. 6097. [Class 20 (ii)] A metal sheet has, on one or both faces, alternate grooves 12 or 15 and ridges 11 or 14, the ridges 11 lying in parallel planes at right angles to the plane of the sheet and the grooves 12 undulating with respect to these planes. Alternatively the ridges may undulate and the grooves lie in the parallel planes. The height of the ridges, when they lie in the parallel planes, may vary periodically from a maximum to a minimum along their length and the point where the distance between two adjacent grooves is greatest corresponding with the crest of the intermediate ridge. Similarly when the grooves lie in parallel planes the depth of the grooves may vary periodically, the greatest depths occurring when the adjacent ridges are furthest apart. The grooves of one face of a sheet are preferably coincident with the ridges of the other face. The distance between crests, along a ridge, bears a ratio of between 4 to 1 and 8 to 1 with respect to the lateral pitch of adjacent ridges. The ridges are preferably sharply defined but may be rounded for thick sheets.
